Hi Everyone! I hope you had a few fun-filled snow days!
Important Dates:
February 6th - Dress Down Day ($3 is due on or before Wednesday if you are participating)
February 7th - Early Release Day
February 12th - Progress Reports and MClass reports go home
February 13th - PAL Meeting & Business Expo
February 14th - Jump Rope for Heart! Noah's Birthday Lunch!
February 17th - No School
Classroom Needs: White Med/Large gift bags from Michael's for Valentine's Day, Clorox Wipes, spoons
Thanks to the parents who folded or volunteered to fold books!
Reading Logs: Please make sure you are reading nightly, and utilizing Raz-Kids. The reading log is not an option, it is part of the homework routine, and very important in 1st grade.
Spelling: Spelling tests went home today. It seems that we are having trouble with vowel teams. Remind your child "when the two vowel men go walking, the first one says his name, but his friend won't do the same". Hopefully we will do much better this week on our test. Make sure you are following the Letterland routine each week, especially now that the patterns are becoming more complex. Thanks for your help!
Progress Reports: Progress reports and reports from mclass will be going home next Wednesday. I will or already have set up a conference if your child did not meet benchmark requirements. You are always welcome to send me an email, or set up a phone conference if you are unable to come in for a face to face conference.
Weather: Our weather is very unpredictable. Please make sure your child has a coat each day, and provide rain gear on rainy days. They had to walk to music today in heavy rain. You are welcome to leave a small umbrella or rain coat in their book bags. We need to find a way to get covered walkways at our school, but until then, watch the weather, and make sure your child is prepared.
Valentine's Day: You are welcome to send goodies on February 14th! I will send a list of names home soon. We may have hot lunch that day, but I will talk to the 1st grade team first. I will let you know.
Jump Rope for Heart: Please raise money to support Jump Rope for Heart! You do need to send a signed permission form for your child to participate. They participate with or without donations. They get a cool duck lanyard for a $5 donation.
Thank you for all you do! Mrs. Hinton
